M151A2 Fuel Level Sender

Post by glcaines » Mon Jan 09, 2023 9:35 am

I need to remove the fuel tank from my M151A2. I have all of the tubing disconnected, but I still need to disconnect the wire from the fuel level sender. There was a very large amount of paint on the connector and I couldn't tell how the wire is disconnected. Does the connector un-screw or does it pull apart? I've removed a significant amount of the CARC, but still can't tell how the wire comes off. I can't tell from the TM.

It just plugs in at the sender, take a pocket screwdriver and separate the rubber a little at the plug.

Thanks. I thought it looked like it plugged in, but I was afraid I would break it if it didn't plug in.

When you insert that pocket screwdriver or awl shoot a dab of silicone spray in the gap & try to move inserted tool all the way around

This may help

Don't yank on the wire. Small screwdriver or awl inserted and run around the perimeter should break the grip. I always reassemble with a smear of dielectric grease or vaseline to avoid future disassembly problems.

Thanks for the help. I finally got it apart without destroying the connector. The connector was buried in a very thick cake of rock-hard paint.
