Fuel tank top plate

Post by Gunbunny198 » Sun May 01, 2022 6:58 am

Hello all,

So I have a leak coming out the top of my top plate on the fuel tank. Tried cleaning it up, looked for cracks or holes and there is nothing I can find. I feel it's coming through the housing for the electrical connection for the in tank pump. I am using an external off the shelf pump and have decided to try and just get a new or reconditioned top plate. I see A2 top plates for sale and my question is are the bolt patterns the same between A1 and A2 top plates?

The early A2 and the A1 use the same tank and plate. Only difference is the lack of fuel pump in the A2 tank. It has a solid pickup tube down from the top plate.

Rick F,
So would a later top plate from a A2 be different then as I'm assuming those are the ones I'm seeing for sale.

Later emissions A2's do not have a top plate. They have a bunch of separate fittings for emissions, vents and hookups for the vapor canister. No big round plate.

This is the later tank.

Here is a thread that shows both early and late tanks.
