front wheel drive

Post by ldj1002 » Wed Apr 27, 2022 10:25 am

While I am waiting for u joints and to install them can I drive it in 4 wheel drive with the rear axles out. It will only be pulling from front wheels. I would think it would be OK.

You can but don't hammer on it. The front set of gears in the transfer case is designed to share the load with the rear. It will handle a normal load fine but don't be doing jack rabbit starts. Be prepared for some really strange handling with acceleration while turning.
