Windshield Wiper Woes

Post by Crux444 » Tue Apr 26, 2022 6:21 am

I had disconnected the male/female connection between the wiper motor and the wiring harness to do some paint touch ups on my M151A2 CDN. After reconnecting, nothing happens when using the selector lever for hi/lo wipers.

Before I $pend some ca$h on a replacement motor, I figured I’d see if there could be something else afoot. Looking for an opinion from some Bluebell callsign in the know.

Thanks!

Run a temporary ground wire from one of the wiper mounting bolts to bidy frame. See if that corrects the problem.

Try what Fil said for a quick fix try. If that does not work you will need a meter or 24 volt test light and make sure you are getting power to the hot wire at the wiper switch. If yes then go from the wiper motor to the battery ground with the wiper switch on with your test light, if it lights then you have a bad ground and will need to get a better ground wire from the wiper motor down to one of the bolts on the steering column bracket. If you have power to the wire, no indication of bad ground then at that point you will need to check the switch and motor. Usually if it worked before unplugging and not after plugging back in the problem is in the plug. Look for a broken wire at the terminal or corrosion in the socket.
