Folks.

What are the correct batteries for my A2? I am in the UK.

2HNs are almost impossible to find.
A common replacement in the States is the 51R.
Others are close in size.
Do some searching and see what is available.

Incidentally if you use 51R I offer replacement battery brackets.

What batteries can I use if both 2HN and R51 are not available
And, is there any 24 volt battery chargers available ?

Anything that will fit.
Take some measurements.

I guess I’m more worried about the height of the batteries than anything else.

51R's are about as close as you can get. About the only difference between them and the 2HN is the 51R is a little smaller in width. You have to pad the hold down a bit or modify your hold down or Fil sells some nice ones already made to go. The 51R will have twice as much power as the old 2HN also. The 51R was used in Honda's for many, many years. I can tell you that my 95 Honda Civic had one so just look up a 1995 Honda Civic for your battery if you want a 51R.

Chevpol,

I'm in England and I did a search of batteries last year (2021) to find an equivalent or near-fit for my A2.

The ones I bought were X-PRO 54523 12v 45Ah. For the two batteries including delivery, the total cost was £85-58.

These were the nearest fit to the hold-downs. They aren't as long as the 2HNs so I used polystyrene spacers to prevent to batteries sliding. The height and width are a near match to the 2HNs.

I bought them from www.batterygroup.co.uk

Ken, Over here the batteries are rated in Cold Cranking Amps, Or CCA. The Interstate Battery brand MT-51R is rated at 500 CCA. I don't know how that compares to what you picked. But here is a list of all the vehicles the 51R battery fits thanks to Interstate Battery. Should not be hard to find one anywhere in the world!

Incidentally if you use 51R I offer replacement battery brackets.
I just got a set of the 51R hold down brackets from Fil. In short they are beautifully made. They come raw so you need to paint or powder coat them. They fit like a glove and are rock solid. Worth the investment.

Thank you Fil! 😊

OK folks my A2 is now trying to start after I sorted the carb out.

I have 2 RP 44 , 12v, 44Ah 360A batteries on, after it turns over, it tries to catch, them returns to cranking over, when I check the voltage after, both batteries loose their charge, but after a few minutes, both are back up to 12.4v each.

I see that most folks use 12v 45Ah, would 1Ah (x2) make a difference?

The one amp should not make a difference. Check your other thread on starting procedure, I think you are flooding it now. This can eventually gas foul the plugs and once gasoline fouled they are never right after that.
