My first 151 did not have a fuel or vapor return line. The tank had 4 connections. Fuel out, vent, fuel sender and power for the In tank fuel pump.
When the electric fuel pump went out and I had no idea where to find a replacement, I removed the vacuum pump and added a fuel pump from the auto parts house.
There wasn’t a vapor return line, but there was a vent. The carburetor just had a fuel inlet. I just the tank’s vent line to the carburetor and went with that.
Ran that way till I sold it off to get married.
Like I said, this was way back in the early 90s. the internet didn’t exist then.

Re: another carb question
Sorry to hijack the thread but in the diagram of the carburettor above, is the tube #34 supposed to be loose? On the 2 carburettors I have, the one that was on my A2 is stuck, and the spare is loose, (infact it falls out when you remove the chamber/resovoir)
Thanks
Mark

Re: another carb question
Are you talking about the emulsion tube #34 or the idle jet #36? The emulsion tube is pressed in and should not be loose. It would be pretty hard for it to be loose without being broken since it passes all the way through the body and comes out in the venturi. The idle jet, which is in the bowl is supposed to be loose and has a tiny gasket on it.

Rickf,
Thank you for the reply, yes I did mean the idle jet, in the carburettor that was on my a2, that was stuck in. Fingers crossed that was what was causing my issues!

Re: another carb question
Quick question, I have hopefully sorted the carburettor problem but, I have noticed that after I try and start, ( it does catch once or twice then continues on cranking) I have petrol in the carburettor by the choke side ( where the air filter pipe goes).
Is this normal? Or am I missing a trick?

Re: another carb question
Yes, If you have the choke all the way out it will fire and usually die as it floods out, the etrick is to push the choke in just a little as it fires. This usually does not happen but once it fires then you push the choke in just a hair and hold the has down a little bit and try again. If you have kept cranking and cranking with the choke all the way out then you have it totally flooded and you will need to push the choke all the way in and push the gas pedal to the floor and then try to start it. This will clear out all the gas laying in the manifold and it will usually start once it hits the right ratio.
