Black spark plugs

Post by markrdje » Fri Jul 02, 2021 7:53 pm

On the A2, I looked at the spark plugs, they were black.A while ago I checked out the float, idle mixture, fuel pump pressure, gas flow. The mutt goes good, only time I get black smoke out the exhaust is when I stomp on it which I thought was the accelerator pump.I never checked the timing but I guess I'll do that tomorrow but there is no reason why that would change as I have electronic ignition in it.The mutt goes good!
This is a holly carburetor, maybe I'll put the zenith carb on it but that probably has a ring on the needle?Won't know til I try it.
Nobody has exhaust gas analyzers anymore.Aw, maybe Midas does.
Aw, gotta go
Remember, we live in the best country in the world so have a good 4th!

The only other thing that could cause too rich a mixture is the air filter, but I could see light thru it, so I did 1 more test-I tried blowing air thru it, nope, no air flow thru it.So I put the wire mesh/oil back in the air cleaner bowl.Ya, of course the mutt seemed to go/run better, so time will tell.
