hi

do NOT leave the contack on the ignition coil burns out

check if you have at the thin wire 568 at the alternator 24 V wen the engine runs
it has power if the contackt is on
if not the alternator wil not start up
take the small cover from the alternator ( battery`s disconected )
connect the battery`s and check if you have 24 volt at the copper therminal (no contackt needet)

if this all is there and no charging 26,5 till 28 volts the alternator is bad
i think only the regulator not a diode
there are two type`s regulators round and spade therminals

Hi Ken

at your picture the alternator is at the other side of the engine
two ven belts no oilfilter aircleaner at the right side
is it a m38A1 ??

Hello George....
yes, it's an M38A1 that has been fitted with the 60-amp alternator. He changed the pulley from 3 to 2 spools...it was easier than finding the 3-spool pulleys for the crankshaft and water pump :D

These end-plates used to be for sale in the USA.... for the Prestolite alternator. I think Frank's Surplus had them for sale.
