M151A2 data plate locations
A friend is restoring a 1970 M151A2 jeep with a heater that was rebuilt in 1973. Does anyone have photos of the locations of all of the data plates

Look here. There are only two data plates, one on the dash with the serial number and shift pattern and one on the right rear fender front panel with the Vehicle dimensions. A 1970 A2 would be a Ford built A2 with the unique straight across front A2 fenders. Pretty rare.

Data plate on the dash: Where on the dash? I have seen it left of the steering column and behind the handle on the passenger side.
There is also a heater plate. Where did that go on models with heaters?
And there are holes for the heater switch both left and right of the steering wheel. Where is the proper location of the heater switch?
Also, this M151 was made by AMC, we believe, not Ford.

Re: M151A2 data plate locations
the data plate was originally installed to the left of the steering column. those units which subsequently had ROPS kits, made plate relocation a necessity. this is because the ROPS made relocation of the headlight switch and ignition switch a routine practice. i have seen a lot of units with the plate installed on the right side of the dash, when ROPS is present. when i installed my heater kit, i placed the blower switch above the ignition switch, but i can't remember if that is what the directions said, or if i picked that spot because it fit well. with the choke and throttle on the right side of the column, placing the blower switch there might be difficult. the plate for the heater was installed on the windshield frame, directly above the instrument cluster.Michael Keller wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 1:43 amData plate on the dash: Where on the dash? Re: M151A2 data plate locations
Ok, This is where pictures are a big help. If it is a 1970 then it has to be a Ford. If it is an AMG then it is a late 72 or later. Quick and easy way to tell which manufacturer is the front floor drains. Ford drains were in the floor to the rear of the floor in the center, scupper type drains. AMG had drains that went out through the body side panel flush with the floor about even with the front cross member and where the floor starts to bend up inside. As I mentioned before, the 1970 A2 had a unique front fender where the area between the fender and the brill was straight across instead of cupped up like later A2's. This was the only year they did this. Data plates on the Fords were left of the column unless ROPS was added and then the light switch was moved over and the plates was moved to the passenger side. Heater switch was always on the far left. Choke and fording valve on the right of column. Later A2's had no numbers on the hood but they were painted on the dash behind the grab handle. As far as individual data plates for each and every item on the vehicle? Well, that is kind of self explanatory but the heater plate was front and center, Horn is bottom center of horn. Generator is on case of same. Starter I have seen with and without. Engine left side behind exhaust flange, Transmission is also on side and I believe the left side, I will have to look at my spare to verify that. No data plate on differentials. There is probably one on the wiper motor but that I do not know about.
