Radio set

Post by muttmania » Tue Jan 26, 2021 1:26 am

Hello everyone,
I just bought a very well restored M151A1 equipped with the attached radio set. It seems in very good conditions but I haven't switch it on for now.
Can anybody give me some explanations about each module that composes the set?
How much can it worth?
I'm based in Italy.
Thanks
Marco

That is a fairly rare setup used for forward air observers if I remember correctly.

I was a radio operator in the crotch, for a FO carried a radio on my back, but some of the radio jeeps had higher freqs for talking to the aircrafts, some of this radio gear I never seen before.Aw, my memory isn't so good anymore, but I could name the radio jeeps I had experience with(4). I am curious what all the components are with this jeep, but it's not important. This is all ancient

I disagree that it is rare, only old.
Less used in M151 series except the earliest vehicles, as the system is basically Korean War era AN/GRC-3 and replaced quickly by fielding of the AN/VRC-12 series which lasted until the early 90's.

Plenty of references on-line to download as long as you look for the proper nomenclature.
