Carb with no Fuel Return...(?)

Post by CrankEye » Sat Jun 23, 2018 6:17 pm

So I got a new carb to replace one that wasn't working well, even after several rebuilds. Rather than having a "T" like fuel inlet set up - fuel in, fuel to carb jets, excess out the top back into gas tank. This one only has the option of "Fuel in, fuel up through a large screen filter (where the fuel return pin hole would normally be) and then into the jets. You couldn't put a fuel return set up on it if you wanted to...because the gas would straight into the gas tank- bypassing the carb all together.

Anyone have any information on this style of carb?

The numbers on top of the carb should say 12848, This was the carb that was used on the early 151 and A1 right after they discontinued the Holley. It might be a 13841 but they were less popular and were only used for a couple years. You can use that carburetor and just block off the return line so nothing get in it. You do not absolutely have to use the return on an A2 either, it is only there to return vapor to the tank to prevent vapor lock. I have set them up without the return and had no issues even in the desert. As long as the fuel pump is good.
