I too am having problems with the zenith. I read all this and looked at the diagram. The one comment says to take out #36. I suppose there no way to get to it without taking the whole carb apart! It’s so frustrating but it seems to be a common problem. Engine stops when you put choke in.
Thanks guys, be patient.

If the engine just stops when you put the choke in then you probably have other issues like a clogged main jet but to get to the mixture screw you need to pop that little plug off that is covering it. You will need a 1/8" drill bit and a small drill. You need to drill this very lightly so that when you break through you do not damage the screw under the plug. So take your time and what I do is rest my arms on something solid and hold the drill with both hands and just very lightly let the bit touch. You will need to centerpunch the spot you want to drill so the bit does not just walk all over. Once through you just find a small screw, I use a sheetrock screw, and jam it in the hole and with a pair of pliers lever it to one side and it will pop right out. The screw is under there. To get it out you will need a decent screwdriver that fits it well and screw it out until it starts to bind and back in a bit. Just keep working it out a little more each time and it will come out. Patience is key here. The jet is steel and the carb is aluminum so you will cut new threads with the jet as it comes out past were the plug burred up the threads.

Maybe clean out that hole first, by hand with a small twist drill bit?

Re: 151 Carburator
I would never personally recommend doing that. I do not even do that and I have 50 years of experience with carburetors! If you change that hole size by .001 then you will have issues with setting the idle mixture. You can use a bristle from a nylon brush but just keep in mind that anything you put in that hole has to be softer than aluminum.
