Inoperative M151A2 wiper motor question on it being grounded

Post by eagleredleg64 » Sat Jun 28, 2014 5:24 pm

I have a inoperative M151A2 wiper motor. It is getting power but is not working? Any other hints before trying another motor?
Thanks

hi

the easysed is to take a wire and make ground

i think the bi metallic fuse inside the motor is broken
take the switch from the motor and you wil see inside a glaze fuse
look if on both side is on power
if not he is broken solder the wire without the fuse together
if the motor works put a inline fuse at the wire to the motor
if the fuse is OK the switch or motor is not good

give us the solution

The 151s are notorious for bad grounding. The instrument panel and the windshield for example. The ground for that motor goes thru the windshield pins and if they're corroded strange things happen. Make sure both the pins themselves are clean and the holes in the windshield and hinges are corrosion free. You can put a little grease on the pins to exclude water in the future from corroding them again. You also want to have a couple of star washers on the bolts holding the hinge bases to the body to insure good contact. On my A1 I added a small ground strap across the right hinge to eliminate this same problem.

My wiper motor is not working. I pulled the pins and cleaned them with a wire brush. When I turn the switch on I can a few seconds later hear a little click sound. Al.ost like a breaker kicking. Any idea?

Linkage frozen or broken and overloading the internal breaker. Try taking the motor loose from the linkage and see if it works and then check to see if the linkage all moves freely.
