Hi Gee,
I finally finished my M38s this year. One is a March 1952 Border Operations Jeep stationed in Bad Hersfeld, West Germany circa 1955 and the other is an April 1952, assigned to Ramstein Air Base, also circa 1955 (no strata blue paint yet). My father was based at Ramstein in 1980 (we had great times!). These jeeps are fully restored, with PPG DP two-part epoxy primer, 24V, and mostly stock. I put 11" brakes on all four wheels on each jeep and they stop in the mountains like billy goats. No brake fade issues when towing a trailer in the hills. They also have Pertronix kits, military solid-state voltage regulators, and the voltmeter gauge. I read that many M38s were converted by the military to this later configuration for reliability and safety reasons. The USAF Jeep is what I call my N.O.S. Jeep, as all the metal came out of G740 marked packages/crates except for the frame, wheels, tub, hood, and block. Both Jeeps have the rare M38 hot water personnel heater (also N.O.S., waited years to find those!) So nice on a cold day My next project is a Cessna 170 or 180. Happy 2022 everyone,
-Mike

Nice; the M38 is the best jeep ever made. A much better vehicle than those flimsy toy WW2 jeeps. And they only made 59K of them. I have three of them. Not all finished.
I wish I had your garage though!
