Took my M-38 down to the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming
this weekend for a 12x hour rock crawl - trail ride.
The frost in the morning,,,, nice
I must say it was one of the adventures of my long wild life.
All the other vehicles were 2020 & 2021 Can-Am machines, more space craft than 4x4s !
I ran with them just fine, only difficulty a broken muffler bracket, fixed w some classic bailing wire.
They asked me how my kidneys were doing... "just fine, do you have a beer for an old paratrooper"
But it was like hard downhill [out West here] skiing, for 12 hours.
Not showing off, just a testament to old Willys Jeeps,
and learning about high & low gears, & 4x4, & only hitting the gas instead of the brakes - once =)
more fun than flying near space for $250,000!

Please do Ray!
there are old RR beds, mining roads, logging roads.... endless,
you just have to search, from the Northern Rockies [in Summer] to Mojave Desert [in Winter]
be advised the bridges are removed =)

Re: Here's to old M-38 Jeeps!!!
Hello,
Sounds like a plan someday !!!
Thanks for mentioning no bridges !!
Having done some work in Nevada, and seen some in Arizona, another thing everyone better be well aware of are abandoned mine shafts cut right into solid rock on flat ground !!
They are all over the Great Old West in remote areas, some right along trails. The BLM Agency has been working on securing many, but they are a danger especially for small ATVs etc, and everything else.
Keep 'em Rolling and enjoying the incredible country we have here !!!
It is waiting for us all to see it
Best Regards,
Ray
