Patina early M38 About ready to roll!

Post by mdainsd » Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:54 pm

Patina M38 Is about to leave the nest. She's up and running, most issues are sorted. I think within the next two weeks she will be taking to the roads. First outing at Lake Piru Ca April 5th through 7th. Then maybe Camp Plymouth Ca the next week.

Theses pics were taken last weekend, A few things left to tighten, add and adjust.

Orignal unrestored body on completely rebuilt chassis, to include:
Overhauled engine
Overhauled tranmission and transfer case.
Overhauled front and rear axle and spring assemblies.
New brakes to include drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, lines, hoses and Master cylinder.
All new electrical 24/12V system (retains the 24V look throughout including original early resistor style gauges etc, but runs modern 12V alternator)
New (original) fuel tank , lines, pump and carb.
Everything done with NOS parts.
Replica M2HB 50 cal on M31C mount.
Complete AN/GRC-5 radio set

Being a VEP M38 Im still hunting the oriinal plastic headlights. Has a prototype grill, only one known to exist.

Nice M38! I really like what you’ve done to save the originality while bringing it back.
