M38A1 New owner
Just picked this up tonight. It's a 62 MB38A1. At least I think so! Any info or comments are welcome. I need all the help I can get.
Thanks

Re: M38A1 New owner
Here's some more pictures. It's titled as a 1962 with a VIN of MD 16672. From what I've found on VIN numbers it would be earlier than a 62. And the body looks like an earlier model???

Re: M38A1 New owner
Not sure what you have as there is no battery box on the cowl. The dash is all wrong for the instrument panel, glove box is wrong. You do have one correct early right side fender. The left side is civilian. Can you crawl under the body and see if there a machine gun plate? Located in the middle of frame(body) with four holes. This will tell us if you at least have a military frame. Where did you find that serial number? John

Re: M38A1 New owner
Thanks for the reply. I will take a look tonight. Lots of confusion on this one. Grill looks 52, as does the body but i wasn't too sure of the dash either.
It is titled as a 62 and thats where I got the vin. I have not found any vin plates.

The body has had a makeover, chassis is 52-53 Vintage M-38A1, Body has had a CJ-Style Cowl panel spliced on.

Thanks, It's starting to make sense. Any thoughts on the dash?

Please post a photo of the motor. Is it 12 or 24 volt? Civilian or military wiring?
How do you fill the gas tank...MB style under the seat?
So far the only military parts are the (early) fold down grille, right fender, the passenger seat, (the driver sear back looks correct but the bottom half looks like it has been repaired with plumbing tubing) and the recess on the right side of the body for the slave receptacle.

Re: M38A1 New owner
It does have the 1st type Chassis that is set up for the hinged grill. The bracket on the front cross member of the late chassis is not there.
