It's not my fault. I blame the jeep.
...But in all seriousness, my dad picked this up for me in North Carolina recently. Delivered 4/54, this M170 was apparently used by the Marine Corps according to its data plate. SN is MD-A10513. As you can see, it's pretty rough, but completely salvageable. Biggest rust issues are the right rear corner and front passenger floor. I'm more concerned about the parts hunt.

Great find,
a diamond in the rough.
Great potential.
Another North Carolina Jeep is saved.
Take your time, and before you know it, it's going back together.
Once the engine out of my M38A1 is back from the machine shop I can make real progress.
Keep us posted and thanks for posting.

Removed the steel plate covering the rear deck to discover six bullet holes. All rounds penetrated from underneath. Five are 7.62mm and one is .50 caliber. I have no idea how this happened.
Also, rust in the hat channel. I have a replacement donor panel that I will use to patch the rot.

Great find, I hope she is saved. I hate the fact that someone cut the front fenders up like that. They looked like they were in decent shape.

I know! Best I can figure is they may have been damaged. Notice the front bumper has been replaced with a home-made monstrosity as well. Could indicate impact damage. It's either that or someone really just wanted a flat fender....
Good news is I do have replacement fenders that are in great shape. Bad news is I haven't even seen this jeep in person yet. Still in the sandbox.

...Guess I'm on a bit of an M170 binge. Got this one from a member of the G. Very pleasant to deal with. Came with a lot of the hard to find parts...both seats, stretcher rails, some brackets here and there, spare tire carrier, etc. Not all of it is pictured. The rest is in the truck used to haul it home.

If I had a nickel for every time I tried that line on my wife after bringing home a jeep, I would be a rich man.
Lol!!
Of course, if I didn't have the jeep bug, I would be a slightly richer man as well....Ha!
Congrats on a nice find!!
