Spring start up is very important, all the fluids are checked, the vehicles are visually checked for "PM Indicators" such as leaks, drips loose bolts, steering components, safety features and a test drive. It's not too early to start planning your Spring Start Up now by making a bumper to bumper check list using your TM as a guide. Make your day happy by visiting your sleeping MV, it will put a smile on your face and our sharp eyes may discover a "PM Indicator that needs attention.
Ethanol free fuel is now available in my area, I have drained the E-10 from all my MV's and hopefully look forward to eliminating winter fuel storage problems that affect the spring wake motor pool up.
No more STABIL- maybe.

Looking forward to repeating this scene in a few days, nothing's better than my old friends here taking me for a romp to WWII Dow Field Hangar 1 to enjoy a Tim Hortons coffee and a bagel. The Gate Guards at the ANG base call these my "Doomsday" vehicles.

Spring is finally here, mud has gome and I can finally take a refreshing 5 mile "Dooms Day" JEEP ride to the Commissary at the ANG Base. I've had to pull over for a security inspection a couple times and all goes well, but a couple weeks ago I noticed that they had a security dog from the Sheriffs Dept at the gate', I spilled a can of black powder on the front floor of my MB a few years ago. It should be interesting if they have a dog on duty should I be checked again.

2019 saw little MV activity. Am pleased to report that the fleet is still 100% turnkey, ETHANOL FREE is the way to go!
Looking forward to the year 2020. Got my fingers crossed.

Hello Joe,

I have been very pleased here in Florida with it.
I have used only ethanol free gasoline my 1942 GPW , since I got it running and a brand new gas tank installed.
Starts right up, and no more worries about that nasty ethanol ruining every rubber piece and also turning
to nasty slop if left to long.

We have had ethanol problems with modern fuel pumps failing after sitting in ethanol gasoline.
Very common issue here in Florida, we have replaced over 10 fuel pumps where rubber has dissolved and they have failed.

So, I would encourage everyone to use the ethanol free gasoline in every one of their historic vehicles.
I also use it in my Halftrack.

It is a little more expensive but saves all sorts of trouble down the line.

Best Regards,
Ray

Recent temperatures have see sawed from 15 Degrees F Temperatures to near 50 F temperatures which can cause condensation especially in vehicles in cold storage. By the time spring comes around it will be a good idea to add some gas line anti-freeze such as "HEET" in the red bottle treat any moisture that has settled in your tank. Don't panic if your JEEP or MV runs rough when taken out of storage, a dose of an additive such as HEET will be a quick cure.
MY CCKW SWB fuel tank often has a moisture line containing droplets on the fuel tank due to extreme temperature change during the winter.

I’ve heard with ethanol based gasoline you no longer need gas antifreeze, because water mixes with the ethanol.
If your lucky to get non ethanol gas continue with the gas antifreeze.
You are correct about the wild temperature changes causing moisture problems.

2020 MOTOR STABLES started today. Annual PM is fun. Got my Kite out today, PM on the kite is simple, a vacuum cleaner does the trick.
