Spring 2018.

My 1941 CCKW of 35 years. It will be 77 years old in May. Note how the OD blends with the foliage, and how the TM 9 Blue Drab USA Registration is an exact duplication of the WWII Blue Drab when photographed.
A fun truck and even more fun to practice the skills the Army taught so well, they do work, my perfect running MV's are testimony to that.
Been a rough winter, just a few weeks ago there was over 4' of snow where the Jimmy is setting. It had a few hiccups getting onto this last patch of snow, adding 20 gallons of Hi Test and some LUCAS fuel conditioner solved the Issue. A little bumper to bumper Army PM and she will be ready for a trouble free 2018.
 Next, the MB and M-38A1

P.S.'
We can't forget Willy Denniger, the G-503 radio guy (and expert), he stopped posting due to unfortunate health circumstances a while back.
The early GI Issue Bridge Classification Plate on the CCKW was sent to me by Willy a few years ago.
Thank you Willy.

A little note, that patch of snow appears to be the night time gathering spot for the semi weekly BS session for a pack of coyotes. It's about 200' from my residence. They are quite timid and run off when I walk toward them.

It was hot out today, I needed something cool and turned to my friend, the CCKW. Won't be long before this scene is repeated.

This truck has 28th Division markings, they went thru Paris on this date in 1944 on their way to war. My uncle Joe was a RANGER assigned to the 28th. Ended up a POW outside of Luxemborg late December while on a patrol.

There were more CCKW's manufactured than Willys Jeeps.Just think of all the mechanics and drivers the WWII Army trained. Many never drove or turned a wrench before serving in the military. Many CCKW drivers were women, especially stateside.
Wonder if the WWII Veterans who drove these war machines argued over which plant their assigned vehicle came from, or if the canvas or paint was the correct color? CCKW takes a bit more driving skill to master. but if a woman could drive one, a novice Jeep driver should be able to master the CCKW. CCKW is a great parade vehicle and crowd pleaser. Our own Dr. Deuce is a long time CCKW Owner. (next to me).

Of course they didn’t since they obviously they could see what color it was and had factory fresh canvas, etc. For those of us that want to resurrect our vehicles and return them to their best factory original appearance as possible, these are important questions!

Ben-"but if a woman could drive one"? Look out your front window, the protesters should be gathering now.
Coyotes that bolt when they catch a glimpse of you is a good sign. Here in SE Mass they(along with the red fox population) have become conditioned to humans. They give us a good looking over before continuing on their route.
An indication that a pack has established itself in an area is the sudden occurrence of cat missing signs.

And remember, those WWII Paint finishes and new appearances only looked nice for a short time, weather and sun took a steady toll.

I fired up the CCKW the other day after setting idle for several months, it fired right off in just a few seconds after a few pumps of the accelerator.. Ethanol free gasoline does make a difference. Outside temperature was in the low 40's F.
