I missed Veterans Day Parade today-too cold, 30F and steady 30 MPH wind, for the first time in nearly 50 years. I felt guilty and did take the MB to this spot just to satisfy the urge to do something for Veterans Day and froze my rear off. My USAF N2B hooded Jacket and Gloves had little effect. The Jeep was not bothered, it was cold enough that all 4 tires thumped for a ways due to the cold. 8 miles in the cold wind was enough.
I could have driven the CCKW with its warm heater, but had not done the PM which is the cardinal rule for safety.
Got an empty feeling over not being in the parade, hopefully it will be milder Dec 7 for the local Pearl Harbor ceremony.

Hey Ben, since you mentioned the heater in your CCKW, does it have provisions for hooking up to the two defroster ducts or is it just for heating the cab ?

GI CCKW Harrison Heater provided Cab Heat only, no provision for ducting.

Thanks for the reply. One does not see many in restored CCKW's.

They work fine as long as they are installed in Closed Cabs.

Am always on the look out for WWII/Korean period evidence at DOW Field, have been noticing that some of the older looking telephone and power poles are full of holes that are not from woodpeckers but are from old time pole climbers that have not been used locally since around the 60's. Bucket trucks are used now.
It still amazes me to see German Air Force Aircraft passing thru a base that would have shot them down during WWII.
A couple dozen German Air Force Eurofighters passed thru a week ago. They were accompanied by an ANG KC-10 ad KC-135.

Off to a late start, today is my first MB visit of the season to Tim Hortons, a Bagel for me, and a tank full of Ethanol Free for my JEEP.
