FT Campbell Pratt Museum unissued Mutts

Post by TransCorps » Wed Feb 06, 2013 2:33 am

I recently read a post here on the G about two unissued 151A2s that are, or were, out in the storage yard at the Pratt Museum at Ft Campbell, Kentucky. Of course now I can't find the original post to add to, but I thought you guys would still like to see the photos I have. You can see from the photos they do look factory new or refurbished.
These photos were taken around October of 2000. As you can see they look unissued with the BII still strapped in the back. From the other post though I guess this was removed at some time.

Anyway I thought I would add them to the forum here. The first group is the windshield down Mutt, the second the one with it up.

They look refurbished to me, check out the tires, they don't look new. But no ROPS?

The trading company I worked for it the mid 90's was offered a "substantial" amount of brand new M151A2, kept somewhere in the United States. Price was around 10.000-12.000 USD/each and we declined the offer since the price was, in our opinion too high, and it was non negotiable.

Don't know much about the deal, I was shown pictures from the warehouse were they were stored, rows upon rows of what appeared as brand new Mutts.

The M151 at Pratt is good example how GI's would paint, tires and all with overspray. When I was in Iraq (2004) we deployed with half our fleet still green with the upgrades, I bought some paint, used our spray gun from our tool set and sprayed our vehicles some tan paint. I could only dream to come across those M151 your trading company didn't buy. Who knows those are probably sold to some third world country. How old is the picture?
