Here you can browse a collection of amazing photos in original colors.
https://www.gettyimages.be/fotos/ivan-d ... ostpopular

If you do not want to select each photo and see the ugly watermark, do the following on a PC with Firefox or Edge:
Keep pressing the CTRL key and with the mouse wheel adjust the zoom so that you see two photos per line.
The zoom is about 220%.
Then you can browse that amazing collection of photos with aircrafts, MV - Tunisia- Algeria - Goose Bay Labrador Canada - Italy

Here are a few photos of jeeps

Hello Yves,

Wow what a collection of super rare color pictures !!

Thanks for posting these !!

Have you noticed the mirror on the jeep , not one that I have seen with the raised geometric design on the back of the mirror.
Image22.jpg
The quality of these pictures is incredible.

I also liked to see the rare leather cold weather gear.
Very interesting !!!
My WW2 Veteran friend says that he wore the same type leather combat cold weather uniform when he was sent to battle the Japanese in Alaska, with the West Virginia National Guard.

He will appreciate seeing the pictures !

He said those uniforms were very good protection from the wet and cold that he faced there.
He said that all the other troops that arrived after them, had standard olive drab uniforms, that were epic failures during to the wet and cold conditions in the Aleutians .
Many troops quickly became casualties because they had poor protection without the leather uniforms from the harsh elements in Alaska.

He later fought in France in the Alsace Lorraine, and the terrible cold weather there, with the 70th Division.

Best Regards,
Ray

Hello Ray,
Thanks for the kind message.
You would likely have a better resolution directly on gettyimages via the link posted 1st… but with the watermark on each photo.
No I did not remark that particularity on the mirror.
This is certainly to reinforce the back of the mirror. Too me it’s too weak, at least on my replica.

Also on your photo, the guy is sitting on something more comfortable :D .
It reminds me the two life jackets used in Normandy and left here by the GI’s of the Jayhawk HQ.
They had removed the buckles and they were sitting on the lightly inflated life jacket in the jeeps and half-tracks.
Perhaps also used as pillows.
I still need to try to inflate them again using CO2 cartridges.

Yes I would like to find such a cold weater gear! Likely in Canada?

Yves.

Thanks, but this picture are in the previous messages above. As I know where is, I put my contribution.

Your GPW has a serial number close of mine.

Interesting, my GPW is from 14/12/1943 (12/14/1943) serial number 165.420, from Dallas TX. Body 36.414 composite and Willys engine, During the service in Brazilian Army, cannibalization was common.

And I painted my Jeep in US Navy colors Non Specular Blue Gray and markings of the VPB-107, this squadron was based in Parnamirim Field until january 1945. More than 90% of the restored Jeeps here in Brazil are painted in Olive Drab with markings of Brazilian Expedicionary Force in Italy.

So my jeep are the different in the photos!!!!

Best Wishes
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

In case you are wondering..
The C-47 with the yellow outline of the national star indicates it was used in the North Africa invasion or theater.
The B-24 below it is actually a C-87 transport version. It was the only long range four engine land transport before the C-54 arrived.
M38A1 MD 82551. Built 3/1955. Purchased in Nov. 2021.
Former owner/restorer of 1977 Jeep CJ-5 Renegade Levis Edition.
All stock w/factory V-8. Used as a daily driver for 7 years.
