Front End G503

Post by '42 Peep's Motorpool » Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:40 pm

Hi everyone, let's take the popular 'Front End Friday' and make it 'Front End Anyday'! Doesn't matter the day, or if you have 20 G503s or just 1, let's see some photos of them from the front!

Ignore the seats as they are clearly 'non-regulation'

The tub is not finished, but looking good now. The windshield/windscreen frame is just in place because I thought it looked weird without one. :?: It's incorrect since it was for a CJ as evidenced by the 'WILLYS' on the skin (and the 'lollipop' arms for the missing inner). G503 windshields sure are tough to find right now in good condition. :x Since a CJ windshield is considerably taller than the correct G503 windshield, it will not sit on the hood blocks. So an ersatz solution was implemented 'in the field' to solve that for now.

Hello,

Well a great idea 👍👍👍
Here are a few pictures of my 1942 GPW.
I kept the original paint, only re-did the blue hood numbers that were there, but worn down and defaced.
I also retouched the 2 side stars as they were each half buffed off .

These are the original Seelite headlights, running on the original wiring harness.

Note also, the original cat's eye lights are seen on, I replaced the bulbs with nos bulbs I found online.
This jeep was built in Louisville , KY in August of 1942.
The front bumper is a new F scripted one, it had a pipe welded to the gussets as a bumper.
Runs perfect !!
Engine was rebuilt in 1945 at Fort Devens, Mass.
The name over the wheel wells is Red Rose 🙂
