Have had the Ford a week, and needed to personalize it a bit. 1942 Ford Gpw with a 1943 Gpw engine. I know the art doesn't "go" there, but it makes sense to me.

The Stanley tribute is for my uncle, who survived the Japanese attack on December 7th, 1941 and almost made it the entire war. He was killed in action on April 17th, 1945 on Luzon.

Nice looking GPW, well executed and very clean.
I created a round spare tire carrier plate (original stored in glove box) welded a threaded 3/8" stud in the center of the 1/8" plate, bolt the tire on with it, then place a round 16"? (width of tire rim) sheet metal plate affixed with nut to the stud. This plate is painted OD, and had a blue Ford Oval (cut out of a license plate but one of those off an F350 grill would be sweet) along the bottom, the words 1942 Ford GPW arc around the top and my antique license plate is mounted in the center above the stud. It can easily be removed for reenactments, or photo shoots.

In Virginia for a front license I used a U shaped steel Curtain Rod welded up into an open top rectangle with 1-12" flat steel flat stock down from the base down to another piece of flatstock (long enough to bring the frame close to the grill) with hole drilled to mount under a bumper bolt hole.

In this frame, I drop a General Officer sized plate (switchable depending on the guest) to which I added 4 small spacers on one plate (shortened Cross Rifle vanity license plate) to put the license plate in front of that frame (license wont slide into the frame directly due to GO plate frame being smaller) I've used the plate holders for weddings (Silver bells on white background) the National Park Symbol, Purple Heart Assn, VFW, over the years in both GPW and Command Car depending on who the parade VIP is.
Just an alternative to doing the bumperettes :D .
V/R and Happy New Year!
