Re: Jeep dame of the Day
The 2 jeeps in the Dr. Pepper ad HankII posted below on Nov. 20th are both Willys MAs as indicated by the curved door opening and single top bow bracket on the one in the foreground, and by the position of the headlights on the front fenders and the front fender support brackets on the one in the background. And I like Mrs. Captain America. A nice early jeep ad; thanks HankII.
Happy Jeep Trails,

Beautiful pic & Beautiful caption.
Woulda' been great to drink a beer or 2 with your parents and listen to the many events they experienced during their service.

Today's Jeep dame of the Day is my mother, Second Lieutenant Jane M. Coldwell, a U.S. Army nurse pictured on Leyte, Philippines, Asiatic Pacific Theater, in June 1945. She was stationed at the 133rd General Hospital and outranked my father, a Sargeant in the Tank Corps in Europe. Enjoy!

Thanks Jeff for pointing me to this article. I did not know that little amazing car. I enjoyed reading the story of Crosley.JAB wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:22 amI think the bottom picture is of a Crosley.

I couldn't read the name on the front grille on the photo.
It would have been useful for paratroopers and to put in gliders.e
That car should be reproduced in kit with electrical power plant !

Rare Marine jeep also!. The Marines only had M38 jeeps on the west coast. At Camp Lejeune North Carolina, they received only one. It was at the division driving school. They kept the WW2 jeeps till they turned them in for the M38A1 in 1952.

More modern "Dames". October 17th, 2022 at war bird fly-in at Centennial Airport just outside Denver. Sadly less than month later, November 12, The "Texas Raiders" and crew were lost in a mid-air collision with a P-63 whose pilot was also killed.

Certainly a WWII-Era pic. How many Dames' @$$ Cheeks would fit on that 6" Flat Fender today?

Re: Jeep dame of the Day
Hello,
Here is an interesting picture from Daytona Beach, Florida during WW2.
It is Subaltern Mary Churchill, daughter of Winston Churchill, driving a jeep during a visit to the 2nd WAC training center in Daytona Beach.
She was serving in the British Auxillary Territorial Service, serving in an Anti-Aircraft unit.
Photo was dated 9/3/43.
A "subaltern" is the equivalent of an American Lieutenant.
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: Jeep dame of the Day
Interesting that there's black out lights on the car behind her.
Appears to be a square-headed adjusting bolt on the mirror arm, and the windshield thumbscrew has been replaced with a bolt. Early black sheller steering wheel. Is that a US Navy uniform with no rank or other insignia? Lots of info in such a simple picture.
