Re: Jeep dame of the Day
Hello Mark,
The RN is for the Royal Navy !!
It looks like a US Sailor with a British Navy lady in the jeep.
My uncle visited England pre-war with the USS Savannah and had a great time !
He told me he mentioned to them how we Americans won the Revolution, and how George Washington was one of our greatest leaders ever , so was toasting him and America with the Brit sailors. He didn't think they were too impressed
Naturally, he was with many Brit Sailors and US Sailors at some bars there when the discussions took place
He was with the ship from its very first cruise until 2 weeks before the Pearl Harbor attack,
having transferred to the US Army Air Corps to become a fighter pilot, which he did.
There was a lot of US Navy personnel in England right before the war,
which could explain this picture of the Sailor sitting in this beautiful early jeep.
Best Regards,
Ray

I’m wondering if the R. N. means she’s a nurse?

I wonder if this photo might have been taken before the U.S. entered the war. Lend lease to the Royal Navy? Just finished reading his book "Half-Safe". Incredible story and very highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in jeeps.

Hello Yves,
What a great picture you have there !!
It sums up what the War Victory was all about !!
The British Trooper looks like he knows right there the sacrifice paid by his fellow troopers was worth it all,
being surrounded with those happy, free Dutch kids, with their lives ahead of them, as well as the soldier !
This is what it is all about .
There are many pics like that, but this one has that special something !
Thanks for posting, and God Bless the Greatest Generation and their children !!
Best Regards,
Ray

Jeeps are certainly a babe magnet Yves. I remember once asking my sons now ex -girlfreind "is my jeep a girl puller" ? She replied "yes, but only in the summer".
