My 43 MB birthday update
Thought I would post a couple of pics of my progress since my MB,s birthday a year ago today. Its DOD is Jan 19 1943. The first pic is from a year ago after a trial fit of my body kit. In the pic I show the kit hood but I found a body man to fix the hole in my original hood so the current pics have my original hood and grille installed. As you can see I got it painted, installed glass and a repo drivers seat. The passenger seat is the only original seat that came with it.

Looks good Lester.
While she was out, did she get to play in the snow?

Funny you mention that. I tried out the four wheel drive on the snow pile by the garage.

Re: My 43 MB birthday update
Gee,maybe I should mark it as a 101st Airborne jeep, NOT! Plan on stenciling about May. Will be marked for my late fathers WW2 unit. C battery.384th Field Artillery ( 155 mm towed howitzers ) of the 103rd Infantry Division ( The Cactus Patch division ) . This division served with the US Seventh Army in southern France, southern Germany and finished up the war at Innsbruck Austria. They were the first Seventh Army division to connect with the US Fifth Army from Italy at the Brenner Pass in the Alps at the Austrian / Italian border .

Impressive historical notes Lester. That is great you have that information to go on and to honor your late Dad that way.

Re: My 43 MB birthday update
Thanks Rodney. It is fitting as the DOD of this jeep and my fathers date of induction from his discharge papers is exactly the same Jan 19 1943. So they both joined the military on the same day.

Re: My 43 MB birthday update
Looks fantastic. How should I check to see where or what my jeep was used for. I have the hood number but, do not know what to place on the front bumper. Any suggestions?

Re: My 43 MB birthday update
1943WillysGPW,my jeep did not have any bumper markings. It is pretty difficult to know where and by what unit your jeep was used unless you find bumper markings under or on the old paint. Most people either pick a unit that either a friend or relative served in or a unit whose history you are interested in. I chose my late fathers unit as a way of honoring his service. I also have his division history book with pictures of vehicles for the correct style markings used.

Re: My 43 MB birthday update
Thanks for the reply. I will have to look around. I just don't want to get clowned on if I put something on there that is incorrect. The original front and rear bumpers were removed and replaced by bubba bumpers.
