Zeph is right.
I've discovered that these photos are from a series of shots of teenagers, taken by Nina Leen in 1947.
She was photographer for the Life Magazine.
Other shots with a Jeep.

Yes Yves, it does look like the same neighborhood in these shots as well. I wonder what the Jeep was "Four Sail" for at that time... 8)
