Re: Not a garage queen
Well, mine is a 47 and will do 50mph on a flat straightaway with only two people in it, but yes, the top speed (or lack of it) renders MB's and early CJ's garage (or trailer) queens. But that is not the ONLY downside. They are vastly under powered next to today's vehicles, have NO safety features, no airbags, no roll bars (at least not originally), no disk breaks and get horrible gas mileage and have very small gas tanks and thus have a VERY short range. With all of that, of course they are beautiful and cute and garner a ton of attention and are a blast to drive and ride it. But we have to remember what they are - relics.Dailydriver wrote: โFri Jul 05, 2019 3:40 pmCal.Bar wrote: โThu Jul 04, 2019 11:42 amYou missed my point. As I said 70+ year old vehicle generally do not run 20,000 miles a year and while they can be daily drivers, it is NOT the norm. Sure, jeeps did many remarkable things in their day. But their day was 70 years ago. If I put 2K a year on mine that will be a lot.Dailydriver wrote: โWed Jul 03, 2019 10:58 pm
Kind sir, 46 horse power Land Rover crossed continents without issues, that 70 year old Jeep is probably more reliable than new cars. Age of the vehicle has nothing to do if somebody wants to drive it everywhere and enjoy it
I think the only downside of the older Jeep would be the speed, isnโt it 43mph top speed ?
But seriously how can someone see one driving and not be amazed by how little and beautiful it is.

The view and the car look amazing. It seems like you had fun shooting memories of this trip.

Re: Not a garage queen
wow, "Debbie downer or should I say one upper"
You go ahead DD & Family and travel the world driving that HMMWV. I especially like the picture with the HMMW driving in between the snow caps and feeding the donkey way to have some fun. No so much the pollical flag, but I can look past that.

Humvee has been ultra reliable so far, we did bunch more trips.
here some more pictures.
( CLICK ON THE PICTURES FOR LARGER VERSION )
eureka dunes in Death Valley National Park,
( as mountains erode all the sediments fill back the valley floor) Death Valley floor is actually 9500 ft deep, pacific plate and North American plate are separating, cutting California in half and in between those two is Death Valley, that gets thinner and thinner.

The tea cattle junction in Death Valley National Park,
you can take a tea cattle from there, but you have to hang one to replace it,
People write Messages in there,
