Hi Derek, Welcome.
This is the foto section. Better to post in the first of the HMMWV forums which is called the "HMMWV Technical Knowledge Base" for general questions. You have a right front CV joint with a torn boot and no grease! Be carefull with that! The ambulance top is heavy which will cause you some "slowness". The Humvee is like a piece of old style farm machinery. Just all crammed together into a tight fitment of parts. You want to check for looseness of things like ball joints tie rods, U jounts and things like that, like you would on any old car you've just bought. Your vehicle looks to be very original with the original style ball jounts and halfshafts. There are upgraded items for these parts and more that are usually the same cost as the original weaker style so it will pay to ask a bunch of questions here, before you go buying things.

Oh, a common problem that could be costly on a humvee that's been sitting and then driven is leaky geared hubs. If there is oil on the inner side of your wheels and tires, you probably have a leaky output seal on your geard hub. If you see no oil on the inner wheel area, you either have no leak or all of the oil is long gone and the geared hub is dry. Fluid changes are the first thing to do so you don't ruin anything needlessly. There is a drain plug at the bottom side of each hub. They are sometimes very hard to remove so you might just open the fill plug and suck out the oil and maybe oil and water sluge out with one of those oil sucker things. You can worry about changing seals later as you need to or just do all of them if you have the place and time and get it over with. You'll have lots of fun doing all this stuff!

I like the photographs but the quote on the last one is even better that what we do for others and the world remains and is immortal that sums it up there...
