M9A2

Post by ccandgc » Wed Jul 04, 2018 8:57 pm

I purchased this complete M9A2 from a fellow board member. I'd like to do this cart justice, just not sure which way to go. Most of the original markings are there. Rust and dents, but nothing serious at all. I'll pound out the dents and dings for sure. Some parts like the wheels were repainted, but I think most parts are original paint.

Chad..... It's only original once suggest tring to keep as many of the original markings as you can ;). I was able to keep all my original markings by simply taping over the markings that were there and then carefully sanding and repainting everything In 319 OD. Good luck.....

Thanks Gary.

Is there any way to put a date on these? Were they serial numbered? Production period?

They were not serial numbered. Production stated in early 1945. I have not seen any proof of them actually being used in the field.

Hey Gary,
well, I must be honest....haven't started.
Been a rough time lately...my wife passed this past January. After I got it from you, her cancer spread. it was a long 5 year ordeal. 46 was too young.... Now I have more time, the cart is definitely on my list to get reassembled. I'll be sure to post pix on this thread.

Hi Chad, so sorry to hear about your wife, our belated but sincere condolences.

I remember you said you were a primary caregiver, hope you find some consolance in this OD hobby we all share.

Please do keep in touch.

Appreciate it Gary. Yes, 5 years on duty 24/7/365. 100-0 was and sorta still is a shock to the system.
OD is a great help and relief!

I've restored two of these BTW, if you have any questions:

and

BTW, my 44 BSA M20 is coming along nicely.

Chad I may have some pictures of the one I restored earlier.... Happy to share insights on where all the parts go.

Hi Van.... I was looking at the rusty M9A2 in the first link you provided above that came from New Jersey. I'm in New Jersey and that looks like the unit I sold Craig Johnson several years ago.

Do you know if that was from Craig Johnson before you restored it?

Gary,
My steel M9A2 came from a (non-military collector) ebay auction in NJ, not Craig. It was being used by a family to do their garden work.

Thanks Van....ironically the one I sold to Craig was also being used by a family in NJ for gardening work, rusted out pretty badly.

You did a good job on the restoration of yours.
