Sounds like my restorations; if they don't need everything, I don't buy them.
There is no such thing as a summer top for an M38.
Do you have the green book on M38s? It has a lot of valuable information that you won't see anywhere else.

No tailgate chains on the M38, it's bolted shut.
It can't be used with a spare tire and jerry can bolted to it.

Yes, x2 on the M38 Reference Guide (and Army Manuals, especially the ORD9 SNL when buying parts).

Looks like you're 90 miles from QTM.
They stock most of the stuff on your list and more.
You'd save a ton just on shipping for the cost of the trip.

Beachwood makes an "unofficial" summer top. love mine. And they dont need the bow to windshield rods.

M37 pintle is the same, if it has no hole for a cotter pin.

Right; I saw somewhere here you wanted an M38 pintle hook; you already have one; separate it from the mounting flange and rotating shaft; sell those to a Dodge M37 guy. Keep the hook.

This is the hitch that came with this jeep seperately and was represented as an M37 hitch but would work on the M38. After going through most of the loose parts that came with this jeep, this part has been butchered into something that resembles something olive drab. I can't fiugre out how to get this long threaded post and castle nut through a hole in the rear crossmember that isn't there, but I'm sure the book will explain everything when it arrives.

Until then, I'm still going to look for a pintle hitch for this jeep.

That’s not an M38 hitch and won’t work without modification.
Ed. Sent you a private message on other parts as I am in Ga.

I concur, that's why I'm still looking for an M38 hitch. I see the repo one from India for less than $60 with free shipping, but I can always get stuff from vendors. And, I've got a few donor jeeps out in the yard as a last resort, just hoping some forum members have some parts stash that, due to the economy, have decided to part with.

That is not the M37 pintle hook you posted in the Dodge section; that one is the later two piece one. The one above is the early one, that has the integral pivot and pintle as one piece. No, this one won't work on a jeep, obviously.
The one you posted in the Dodge section, will.

Anyone else confused? I only have one pintle hitch at my disposal. The pics on the Dodge for sale thread is the exact same pintle, one taken with all the pieces seperate to show the exploded view. But, it's the same part, and not going to work on a jeep, agreed. You say "later" version. Like M35? or will work on an M37, just later in it's development?

No one is confused; you have shown two different pictures for your pintle hook on the Dodge page. The first one (three) from eBay, which are fuzzy on my Mac, appear to show the one for a later M37 type, that uses a separate rotating adaptor that the actual pintle hook bolts onto. Which is the same as on the M38. Vintage Power Wagons catalog shows all three parts needed, as well as the early one piece pintle and rotating assemble, like you have.
Your second picture shows the early version, having an integral rotating shaft, which is only for the M37, obviously not for a jeep.
Look this; it will show you the type that uses the adaptor rotator for the M37.https://shop.midwestmilitary.com/produc ... k-adapter/

This jeep has found a new owner. So, these parts are no longer needed by me. Maybe the new owner will try again later.
It's been fun.
