I purchased a M38 that was converted to 12V. Came with the 12V gauges uninstalled. What I was thinking of doing was making some pigtails from some old wiring (female Douglas connector on one end bare wire on other to connect to new 12V gauge) so I can keep my original wiring / Douglas male ends for the gauges and still wire to the new 12V gauges.
Then when I get the time to convert back to 24v I just have to remove the 12v gauges and pigtails and put the original gauges back in. At least I think that is a workable solution so I can drive with 12V gauges I already have in the short term.
Anyone done a rewiring/electrical replacement and have the old wiring and connects getting in their way and want to sell them?

Re: electrical wiring with Douglas connectors for my M38
I seem to recall adapter pieces being sold on e-bay or vendor sites if you want some quick simple solutions.
These may be between Douglas metal and Rubber pieces though, not ending in terminal sections like you want to make up.
Might post request on 12-5T forum as well, and start the subject as "Old Douglas wiring harness sections wanted" or such, it gets the reader to the point quicker.

I think vendors sell the chells and working parts for the Douglas and Packard connectors if you just need a handful. I might have some used ones laying around, but can't PM you as I am a newbie.

Re: Old Douglas wiring harness sections wanted for my M38
I make M38 wiring harnesses from new M35 truck harnesses; they are much cheaper than the $800 plus that they get for new harnesses. Remember, all M series vehicles have the same wire numbers; for example an M38 headlight wire made in 1951 is wire #17 and 18, and a tank made in 2021 headlight wire is still, 17 and 18.
You will need a 4 lug crimper and some end terminals. And they will be Packard although there are sill some Douglas harnesses out there.
