old jeep

A guy I met at a local car show has this jeep in a lot behind a garage. IT's been there since Jesus was born and wanted to know a few things. One I know it is a M38A1 and pretty sure it's a C due to the castors around the springs and the hold around the passenger side fender, and the windshield has the slot in the frame for the cannon. So Questions: I seen the diagonally cut fenders but not sure what is means. Just that it's early. What would a jeep like this be worth for the guy to sell. Knowing that the inside is beyond bad, but the hood upper frame and windshield is very good.

If the rust in the loose door is any indication as to the rest of the body, it isn't worth much. $500 I'd say.

Pre early 53 M-38A1 had a hinged grill and no Tie Rods that went from Cowl to Grill. The early frnders had braces to the frame. The later frnders with the "cover plate at the rear had Tie Rods from Cowl to the grill, and no hinged grill. The late grill had no hinges, but was supported to the center of the front cross member by rubber cushions. The late fenders did away with the braces to the frame.
Not very clear am I?
