WTB M38A1 tub

Post by Jimmyjack68 » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:49 pm

Hi all,

I am restoring a ‘55 M38A1. My tub requires a good amount of repair, so I am looking to just replace it. I am considering the Willys Overland Repli-tub, but they are quite pricey. Does anyone have a good condition used/takeoff tub they’d be willing to sell that I could mount directly to my chassis with minimal to no repair required?

Located in CA, USA.

Thanks!

JimmyJack...I was in a similar situation 2 years ago with my '52 The tub needed so much repair that it was beyond my ability and financially did not make sense to try to just patch in replacement panels. I had to make the decision between maintaining the historical integrity or the common sense, do the best I could. While the engine is not original (cj3b) everything else was original. So I ordered an MD Juan tub thru Daryl Bensinger and moved on. I have been pretty happy with the new tub and did a frame up resto. Good Luck!! Tony

Ron,

I’ve seen those online recently. They scare me a bit since they’ve been sitting outside for so long. I feel as if they’ll be the same as the tub I have now. Thanks for the suggestion though!

You're welcome! I'll keep my eyes peeled.....

Perhaps the seller wouldn't mind sending you some more detailed photos?

Did you ever find a nice tub? I have access to a few that may meet your needs. They are located in Alabama. Message me and I can get some pics for you when I head back to the property.
