It will be the same as for a WW2 jeep, angled blade to fit the side. I'm sure you know that.

Midwest Military has original surplus shovels that fit the WWII Jeep and the M38 in stock.

Thanks John, could you post a link? I searched and searched on MM website and can't find a shovel anywhere.

Telephone him. I know; ancient means of communication, but some old guys sill use it. The Internet is good, but can't solve everything. I call in my parts orders just to get to talk to someone other than my wife, who doesn't talk to me anyway and certainly not about parts!

My experience is that most of the WWII shovels stick out too far from the body at the handle. It took me awhile to find one with the correct fit for the M38 (flush against the body). Has a slightly different bend to it from my two WWII shovels).

Apparently pictures can only be posted if they are on a server. My pictures on on my iPad and I can’t figure a way to post them.
Send me your email or text address and I can send you these pictures. It is older with old green paint and looks like the handle was first red then black then green. The back of shovel is open with the tops rolled over the back of the blade where the foot goes. Shovel is right at 37” and came out of an old, large Tennessee parts collection. Send me a PM if you like.
