Pe95K genset

Got this yesterday, half hour from home. RMC engine just over the 100k range, I have never seen one not drilled on all the extra bellhousing holes. 1 of these are for sale down in carlisle, pa, along with a later m38 motor too, for sure one of them is not drilled either. pppurrs like a lion with the exhaust leak.

it runs pretty good, needs exhaust work and a new governor. I only bought that for the motor for my tractor, There are also 2 gensets sitting behind this one, they are coming out of the walls right now. also picked up a running mb engine, from facebook, was on there for a few weeks, buyers were dallying. po pulled it from the genset. I will put the mb motor in the tractor, its ser is mb600xxx ish. So the brown genset will stick around for a bit, get pm'ed and repaired, used here for the summer storms, and probably get sold to somebody that really wants a Korea war type genset.

This one does not really have a winter kit on it, the n15 i used this winter does not either, with the pusher fan, cold air, 11 degrees F this past power outage, makes the carb freeze up with frost and the linkages get stuck. the little heat box over the exhaust does really nothing, need the full kit that goes under the oil pan and up the side, I think thats how it works, and the radiator cover.

its summer time, get the 10W out of the air filter and put 30w back in there an in your engines.

My unit does not have all the holes either and the RMC serial number is also just over 100K. I am sure your and mine were built during the same time period. My unit has less than 30 hours total time on the clock and it runs great.

Mine initially had the cold weather air intake installed but I since removed it. I am planing to reinstall it once I can locate the correct flexible air duct.

Does a PE95 engine work in a Jeep? After you undo the PE95 things and add the MB/GPW things, does it fit easily and have the same hp? I was told that it has less hp due to a lower compression ratio? I was also told that it has chain drive for the cam shaft which make the cam different, but if is designed to the MB/GPW specs, lift and duration it should be OK.

Lower HP for the PE-95 is due to a different intake manifold. Bolt on an MB/GPW manifold and you'll see all 60 HP that the MB/GPW engine will deliver.

pe95 engine is a general vague term as usually these engines are changed and what not. Be more concerned with the serial or casting number of the engine and suffix of the genset. WW2 jeep engines were chain drive. Post war engines are gear driven cams with some exceptions. This genset is a pe95, " K" , K's are post war, Korea era, engines start with serial number RMC, usually, your ww2 willys jeep has a MB engine,
So if you change all the different stuff, front motor mount plate, oil filter, distributor, intake manifold, carb. and what not, keep the flywheel that is on the engine, it may be specific to certain postwar engines and usually a virgin. it will bolt right in, this engine has a bigger web on the back so you can not see the full timing hole. While it is out, grind the area out, or get a new front pulley and front mounted timing indicator. If you feel you need to pull the head, put a ww2 head on it.

Because a WWII head will look right to the Jeep police. The post war block that was in my Jeep had a WWII head and I didn't realize the first time I owned my Jeep that it was a post war engine.
