Hi Randy,
No, my unit had no radiator or panel. These things must be pretty rare, there is nothing on the internet about it except for a couple of pics of one mounted inside a panel truck

That’s the front cover I’m talking about. The “Sears” tag was probably added later.

Randy,
Can you make out the brand of governor on your genset? Mine has an oval data plate but can't see anything left on it to read.

Its more than a float level issue if it is the carb. I have a new in the box one here too.

Hope it works when I need it. Keep us posted. I have genset carbs if you need one.

Adam
I'm going to try out a higher float level in the new carb just as a science experiment, it's starving for fuel even at high RPM unless the choke is on (but not fully on). With the engine running nicely with the PU-58 carb you can hear the fuel feeding the engine down the barrel of the carb, no such sound with the new 539s.

Nope, the tag is bare except for a number stamped in it, but no manufacturer on it.

Update,
I tried a higher float level on the new carb, made no difference so I reset it back to 3/3 inch. I installed the new carb on my MB which has the correct intake manifold, it runs a little better on the jeep than it does on the generator but is still very lean and needs about 75% choke to run smoothly at idle and high RPM. I reinstalled the original CJ2 carb on the jeep and it runs great with no choke after about 5 seconds. It looks like the problem is with the new carb.
