The original Willys tooling books contain some very obscure information about things like engines. The block stamping instructions provide the size, font, and manufacturer of the stamps to mark the engine serial. What is important is that it also provides the starting serial number for each prefix, mentions that each batch was to begin with the last consecutive number in the ENGINE BOOK. So there was a book on the assembly line that logged all the engine serial numbers, and the dates they were produced, and what prefix (application) they were for. That book has not been found,(YET)Adam wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 4:36 pm
The serial number is not in the standard area on the oval, and the dash is different. Pic in manual shows this too.
If you ever clean the paint off the oval pad post a pic of it. Just guessing, but how would they know that engine was going to be used in a pump, maybe serial number is in line but purposely put in a little different location on the pad?

Re: Willys MB OCD Fire Pump
Hello to all,
Fred just put me into this thread as I too have recently found a Willys pump as well. It will go to the end of the project line but it’s currently in running / pumping condition. I’d love to see more of the manual if you are ever going to reproduce any of it.
I’ll try to post pictures if anyone is interested

Hey Tremaine,
That’s super cool. I would love to see pictures of your pump. Don’t hesitate to contact me via email if it’s not possible to post the pictures here.
The first step on my project might be the digitalisation of the manual but that might take some more weeks.
What’s your serial number on the dash?
Kind regards from Germany
Carsten

Re: Willys MB OCD Fire Pump
Dear Sir,
Thank you for joining this topic with the third pump.
(Fred, great work of connecting everyone here).
Would you mind posting pictures?
Which is the serial number?
The "radiator" should be different because the pumps are using the pumped water to cool the coolant. A gen set could not offer that feature.
Regards
Carsten

Re: Willys MB OCD Fire Pump
Maybe it has already been discussed, but the pump on Tremaines unit appears to be a Barton American U-40 like was used on CJ2A Howe fire jeep conversions.
