I just picked up a PE95 K genset
The data plate says Phila 51-11. Does that mean it was made in Nov 1951?
The sn is 1404
It has the waterproof ignition like M-series gas engines, but because it is made to run on 12 volts, does that make the enclosed coil special?

Re: PE95 K genset
That number is more likely something to do with the date of the depot upgrade your GenSet went thru.

Re: PE95 K genset
I'm not sure what the last number represents but I have seen numbers as high as 71 so I assume it can't be month or week.

Re: PE95 K genset
They were new in the early 50's, came along the same time as the m38 series of jeeps and MC engines.
Its the order number or contract number for a group of the pe95k series of generators, They are from around 1951, i see some 52 and 53's too, there might be a date code on the distributor, they used RMC engines, you can date it by the mfg date of the engine kind of, in the 30 years of buying and selling these things, nobody ever wanted a distributor, post the distributor part number in the m38 section, you may get a better history on that part. for the purist the dist is not the same as the one in the m38. Look at the voltage specs on the side of the dist. might look like the one below, verify with the schematic under the panel box cover, big 1.? 49watt resistor to drop volts to 6. Do you have a boat?
