PE-95K TM addition

Post by Bart1015 » Mon Aug 26, 2019 6:37 am

Hello all,

I am looking for the PE-95K TM change. I believe it would have been just an additional section to the standard TM. I have found a few links to the section, however noes of these links worked.

A PDF, a good link or a readable photocopy of the section would be awesome!

TM 11-904 change C1

Thank you,

Hey Bart, a friend of mine has an opportunity to acquire a P.E. 95-K but is not sure what year it was built. I can't help because I don't know. Do you know when the (K) model was produced and put into service??

D.R.H.,

I don't know when they went into service. I believe the K was the last model used. Mine has an M38 engine, 24 volt and water proof ignition just like the M38 jeeps. Its a nice unit but has some odd features like no external vehicle type generator and there is no starting motor. It does have the generator brackets and I have used the until to test my WW2 generators.

The engine starts by using the large generator. Mine would not start without some someone also cranking the handle at the same time. I ended up cleaning all of the brushes and all of the contacts inside the power panel. Now it starts up great and puts out power as it should.

Hey Brett, thanks for the answer. I'll let my buddy know. Good job on getting her to self start. It is a b!tch trying to hand crank them into running.

I know how you feel.

Its interesting to note that the unit actually starts (turns) on 12 volts, the ignition system is 28 volts and it puts out 120/240.

Now I use two 12 volt batteries where the original 6 volt batteries in series were originally. It is still set up as for a 12 volt startup but it cranks great now.

Also, when I bough mine it came with some paperwork that was completed when it was placed in service. The paperwork was dated 1952.
