PE-95C Serial Number Question

Hello All.

I recently picked up a PE-95C with a serial number stamped on it, but need some help making sense of it. The last couple characters are either "S M" or "C S M". I first thought that the "S" was an "8" but the font is different than the other "8" in the serial number. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I believe that your engine is a Ford Model ONY, 120 Cubic inches. Used in PE 95 A, B & C's

It may be possible that is a number stamped by the generator manufacturer. Perhaps you will find that number in other spots on the unit or on any paper work if t came with unit when you found it. Looks like it is not a typical Ford stamping. These units usually had a GP head on them and used the GP cam shaft to get a little more oomph out of the engine compared to the standard tractor/ONY block.

I actually have another PE-95C with the same engine setup including a GP head, but the engine pad is blank. No signs of ever having a number stamped on it. I'm sure there's a reason and meaning behind the number. Unfortunately, no other paperwork came with it. However, I plan on pulling it into my shop this winter to pull the engine. Hopefully I'll find more clues.
