Not sure what the big secret is that you can't say the price in a "for sale" ad on a public forum?

I know it's rare, and $5,000+ (assuming it's complete with PTO and everything works) is the going rate --- but that's too rich for my blood.

When it comes to Ramsey 50 and 50R winches I can't help but ask the price because when they surface it's a rare event.
I forgot my own rule that "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it".

The price shouldn't be a secret (even the final sale price should be advertised for us poor peons).
Maybe he's doing an auction.

The thought occurred to me.
Very first post is to sell a Ramsey winch and won't say the price?
Smells fishy.

When a person requests to join the forum, do the Moderators cross-check location against the IP address and deny the application, or at least question it, if they don't match or appear legitimate?

Or do all join requests get automatically approved and fishy gets sorted out later when need be?

What is it you suspect this person has done . It seems perfectly logical to join a group so you can sell an item to those who would be most likely the ones who would need it. Is that a problem here ? I don't think I understand .

There are specific rules for when someone posts something for sale. The major elements needed to post are: 1. Your location. 2 PRICE the seller is asking. The Moderators.

This post brings up an important question . Where can a person find an honest appraisal for WWll military vehicle parts ? I don't mean an appraisal for what they would pay for them but an appraisal for what they are worth . Or what you could expect to get for them should you decide to sell them . Where do you go to find that information ? Is there some place or person willing to do that ?

Are you asking because you have some items for sale or to insure? Big difference in the value on what you have. This is a great forum to get appraisals. There are many experts in multiple fields on this forum that can give you a fair value for whatever you have.

A good place to start for someone new to G503 and wanting to know the value of something is to read, search all the various forums that are here. There is over 20 years of information complied here.

Try a 'key word' search of a item you may want to sell or find out the value of it might be....

You ask why? The OP came here under false pretenses. He claimed to be here in the USA when in fact his IP comes back to India, where BTW, in PMs with him he admits to being in India. India is our most troublesome locality for scammers and crooks. This, of course, is not to say all from India are scammers. In addition, he rolled in here claiming to have a very coveted and rare item for sale. This in itself is a huge red flag. We are dedicated to protecting the members on G503.com.

Not all who list their location as one place yet reside in another area bad either. You list your location as Northern California but your IP address is Germantown, MD.
