Trade M38A1 for a rebuilt GPW/MB Engine.

I have an M38A1 unrestored.

I am moving and need to jettison some stuff.... I am curious if anyone would trade this jeep for a working/rebuilt MB/GPW engine.

I have a 1942 GPW with a cracked block.

The M38A1 is a bit buggered up on the firewall and has a buick V6 in it right now. Otherwise "unrestored."

Thoughts?

Hi: Cracked Ford blocks are common. There are ways to repair the blocks now depending on where the crack is located. Distributor well is sleeved to fix. Bottom of water jacket line being a line crack can be also be fixed by pinning or welding. Center head bolt hole cracked can be Helicoiled and sealed. Electrolysis pin holes can be sleeved. Valve gallery rot or cracked in top of opening is death to the block. If originality is not prime then a late model geared CJ/ L short block is best. Nice heavy construction and quiet operation and easier to find than an original Ford block. IMO
