In search of korean war veteran's jeep.

Post by generaljeeps » Sat Mar 14, 2020 8:47 pm

Hello G503 members, I am new here to the forum and thank you for having me. I hope to learn more on military vehicles here. Second reason I am here is to see if possible by the slim chance I can get help looking for a jeep that was my grandfather's during the Korean War. I do have hood # and company # that where on the vehicle. The jeep is a M38 Willys. Hood # is 20912313 and the rear bumper #s are 32-66(drive side) and 44-14(passenger side). From most of the photos that where taken of vehicles at the camp my grandfather was at (I believe 32-66 is the company he was with). Because it looks like all vehicles have 32-66 on them, hoping this helps. I can not say that this jeep is hear in the U.S.A or over across the pond in England (my grandfather has quite a bit of photos of England when he was over their). I can say he was at one time at Camp Pick, LA and Camp Breckinridge, Ky for training. If anyone has seen this Jeep or has any info of its whereabouts please I would like to talk with you. Thanks from, Generaljeeps

If you do find this jeep, also buy a lottery ticket the same day. Equal chances of success.

The M38 jeep your looking for could have ended up in Korea, Japan or some friendly country. I know for fact between 1997 through 1999, I was stationed in Izmir, Turkey at (NATO) Headquarters. I saw the M38's and M38A1's being used by the Turkish Army at several military installations. In WWII in the European Theater or Pacific theater, vehicles were not brought back to the US. Good Luck!!!

Hello,

Welcome to the G503 !!
Good luck in your search !
Please post a picture of the jeep you are looking for.
Maybe it is still around :D :D

This new G member found a picture of his British Motorcycle in use during WW2,
liberating a town in Holland in 1944 !!!

Incredible discovery !!

It probably went to Spain and was used in the filming of Rat Patrol; most of the jeeps they used were M38s. With MB gills and windshields.
