I managed to get a old spray booth for home and have finished the painting.

Re: M38A1 EX Kuwait army
One of the biggest headaches I have had on this restoration is getting the handbrake to function using the original handle, with the overdrive unit in the way. I have achieved this by utilizing a CJ hand brake drum assembly a VW handbrake cable and some homemade adaptors. Now it works well .

At long last it is back on the road. There are still a few bits and pieces that need doing. It runs well and is fun to drive. The overdrive helps to reduce the operating RPM and was well worth the effort in putting it in and sorting out the hand brake to suit.

After driving about 250 km it started to misfire and loose power after checking points coil fuel pump I found that the condenser was buggered. It was a brand new distributor that I had fitted . Now it runs well again

Looks like you are making good progress!
Did the Kuwait army Jeeps have fording kits?
A bit more seriously, we'll assume there wasn't a lot of water induced rust, but how about other corrosion? The metal looks clean in your photos?
How about rubber and electrical parts...too baked?

Re: M38A1 EX Kuwait army
There was some rust as I had it in Dubai for 8 years, there it is very humid in the summer. These units were basic with a 6 volt electrical system, no fording kit. I had to make a new wiring harness. All the rubbers also had to be replaced.
