Where can I purchase some of the felt that goes between the fenders and the cowl? Is it available or do I just make my own? Was it treated with any type of product to keep it from rotting?

Thanks,

Brad

I used to purchase the antisqueak direct from Jeep under Part N0. 680403, iit was the same asphalt impregnated material as the antisqueak installed on MB Jeep. . The 680403 Antisqueak was superseded in production by Willys Part No. 94096 SEAL, strip type, 3/16" diameter bead. It is sold on the market as a 3-M Product known as Scotch Calk, and by another manufacturer under the name of Strip Calk and comes in a package od individual 12" ling strips. It is dark gray and putty like. All CJ-5 and mid 50's M-38A1 used this on the fender to cowl and on the removable bolted down floor panels.
The Arm7 had a replacement listed in some of the ORD 8's for the G-758 (M-38A1) in the form of Ordnance Part No. 27-W-918 WEBBING, cotton, O.D. heavy weight, width 1". It was a substitute used in Ordnance shops foe the Antisqueak and Sealer.

I use the Scotch Calk on my own M-38A1's as well as customers as it is the same as the OEM Sealer.

A little reminder for you M-38A1 restorers, and the 50's-60's CJ-5 restorers also.

Ben Dover, is the 3M Calk on the M38A1 the same stuff that the RV community uses to seal in the window frames of camper trailers?

Not sure, I am only familiar with the trade name printed here, Iand have not bought any for a while, the Scotch Calk and Strip Calk were items that I always bought thru my auto body shop supplier. It comes in 12" Boxes containing 1/4" diameter putty strips on layers of wax paper. and is identical to that used on 50's 70's CJ and M-38A1 Jeeps.
