Note the lack of stars and that some "USA" Registration numbers have not yet been updated to "US ARMY" Some units still had no stare or "US ARMY" as late as 1961. This was common in the National Guard.

Interesting, that was during desegregation era? One jeep had Tennessee National Guard on bumper.

Not only Tn N. G. Markings, but also veh. # 1 with 2 stars on front & glossy paint. Thats the commanding Gen. of the Tenn' N.G. and I think was in Little Rock during the school integration situation. Note the "Lest we Forget" Monument in the background.

I wondered where Billy, I am not real familiar with "calling out the guard" and whether they can be sent across state lines. I know there was a lot of turmoil back then and Memphis had some trouble. I got this info 2nd hand since I got my behind smacked in June that year :D

The Adjutant Generals' M-38A1 is practically new, the USA Number is 1955 vintage. Driving a smooth, tight M-38A1 was a pleasure.

Note the Vinyl Seat Covers.
Judging from the appearance of the tires on the AG's Jeep, it is being driven in front wheel drive on hard pavement.

Hello,

Yes Joe, many great mirrors :D :D Many great Jeeps !!

This is History of the USA, and Jeeps played a big role in a Show of Force to get the attention of local State politicians. The Civil Rights struggle was real, and these pictures and videos recorded a snap shot in time.
I don't know if that is in Memphis during the Segregation era or in another Democrat Controlled Segregation state.
Allowing American Black Citizens into public schools was being refused by Them, and Federal Law and the US Constitution was being ignored, as well as Eisenhower Presidential directives on the issue.
The US Civil War was fought over this, and the USA won, in 1865, at great cost, against the then declared enemy of the USA, but the injustice and corruption was still being practiced so many years later.
Federal Troops had to be sent in again, 90 years later !!
Here is a link to an earlier post that had some videos of President Eisenhower sending in the 101st Airborne
into Little Rock, Arkansas after the State Governor and all his political allies refused to desegregate
public schools, including the Arkansas National Guard .

People should remember all this history, as history is often forgotten, or "cancelled" as in the modern term.

Great video of plenty of Jeeps, as well as an M38 still in service at the time.

I wonder if their are Jeep parades there to reenact the historical events that occurred there ??
M38A1's would have a field day and some M series trucks too !!

Best Regards,
Ray
