a flea market.

Is that a deflector on the front of the hood, factory fitted?
Would that date the Jeep?

Or were they always factory fitted (I've not seen many)

My MB has got this deflector on the hood as well. Pics to follow the next days. SN: MB274320, estimated DOD 10-19-1943

At page 53 of John Farley's book "The Standerdised War-Time Jeep" part 2, there is a sharp full page image of the same picture, were you can see all the details.
The USA number of this jeep is U.S.A. 2088562.

Read Lloyd White's Volume One closely, study other publications for WWII packing procedures for crated vehicles, note where preservative is to be applied when preparing vehicles for crating.
